History
|
CCC traces its history to four families who met together to discuss forming a new church that would meet the needs of unchurched people in North Atlanta and surrounding areas. In the summer of 1986, as they shared this vision with others, the small core grew into a committed church body. Initially called Buckhead Community Church, services were held in homes and then moved to the Lower School Cafeteria at Pace Academy. Around this time Peter Grant a native Scot, became the church's first Pastor. Between 1990 and 1999, church services were held in several rented facilities in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, including Pace Academy and the Atlanta International School. As the church steadily grew and maintained its vision for reaching the people of Atlanta, in 1996 it started two new churches: Northwest Community Church in West Cobb and Mountain East Community Church near Stone Mountain. |

In September 1999, the church moved into its own facility on the northwest corner of Atlanta, just off the I-75/I-285 intersection. Our fresh start was reflected by our new name, Cumberland Community Church, and celebrated with a week of Grand Opening events on September 18-26, 1999. Dr. Peter Grant continued to Pastor the church until May 2006 when he started a new ministry, PreVision Partnership, dedicated to glorifying God by teaching God's Word to the church in order to reach the world. The church was then blessed to be lead by Pastor Alan Scott. More coming soon... |
